Hope Emerson was an American actress who was nominated for two major awards during her career. The first nomination was for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Mrs. Winfred Benson in the film "Caged" in 1950.
Her second nomination was for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Drama Series for her role as Mother Gantry in the TV series "Peter Gunn" in 1958. Despite not winning either award, Emerson's strong performances in both roles are remembered as iconic examples of her talent.
